Hey there, fellow low income adhd moms! Buckle up, because I’m about to take you on a whirlwind tour of my gloriously chaotic day. Spoiler alert: it involves a lot of cleaning, some culinary masterpieces (if you count grilled cheese and canned tomato soup), and a night time laundry folding session.
Oh, and before you go imagining how all of this chaos unfolds, why not see it for yourself? You can actually watch my day-in-the-life adventure, on my vlog. Just click here to jump straight into the action. Trust me, it’s one thing to read about my dysfunctional domestic domain, but it’s a whole other experience to see it in living color.

Rise and Shine (Sort Of)
My day kicks off with the usual fanfare: rolling out of bed and facing the music, which today happens to be the sound of my daughter telling me it’s morning time. First up, meds – because anti-depressants and pain pills are my fuel for the day! Then it’s on to bath and hair-brushing with my daughter. I can almost feel the eyes on me when my unsightly bathroom hits people’s screens. Don’t judge me. Okay, you can. How could you not?
Bedroom Tidying: A Trashy Treasure Hunt
Ever tried sweeping your bedroom and found a missing sock, three old receipts, and life’s unanswered questions? That’s my morning. It’s like a treasure hunt, but instead of treasure, it’s laundry, crumbs, and the occasional half full coke can. Not to mention the tangles of extension cords scattered across the floor. They “temporarily” supply power to our bedroom, borrowed from the living room. Which happens to be one of the few rooms with working electricity.
Kitchen Chronicles: Where Mess has Created a Hostile Takeover
Onto the kitchen, my domestic jungle. Just removing appliances from the counters feels like a hazmat suit is needed. I clean, I conquer, I put things back – it’s mundane but necessary. Lunchtime is a culinary showstopper: a sandwich for my kiddo and a ghetto gourmet take on canned tomato soup and grilled cheese for the family. Gordon Ramsay, watch out. I’m coming in hot like Redneck Ramsey.
Afternoon Adventures: Dinner, Mopping, and More Cleaning
Dinner time! I whip up a family favorite brinner, (breakfast for dinner) which consisted of instant pancakes, fried eggs, and precooked sausage links. I however, settle for “gourmet” hotdogs (thanks to the sweet Amish hot dog sauce). After dinner it’s on to mopping all the rooms I had cleaned up earlier in the day, filling the house with the strong stench of Pinesol (I prefer Fabuloso).
Evening Escapades: Laundry and Lifesaving
The day wraps up with me folding the mountain of laundry I was left with after several loads were washed and dried. I think I’ve reached a new level in the laundry-folding game. If there were championships, I’d be a contender for sure.
Just when I thought I had a handle on things, my husband decided to do his best stuntman impression and took a hard tumble. He’s fine, folks! But for a minute there, I was ready to switch careers to a paramedic. I think my worry did more harm that good, as he shooed me away to continue the laundry folding – the most chill part of my day. Especially because I always watch a show or movie on Amazon Prime while I’m folding.
Signing Off: A Day in My Low Income SAHM Family of Five
So, there you have it. A day in my life: (mostly) unfiltered, unrefined, and unabashedly real. It’s not always pretty, but it’s mine, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. That is unless I win the lottery! If you ever feel like your house is a trash heap and the mess before you feels to overwhelming to conquer, just think of my house. Welcome to the club. I’m glad to have someone I can relate to. Let’s laugh about it together!
Greetings! I’ve been reading your website for some
time now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Houston Texas!
Just wanted to mention keep up the excellent work!
